Create your own mobs! MakerKing 0.8 is out


MakerKing (previously Jumpaï) is out with a massive new update. You can now create your own mobs with the mob maker! You can use the mobs as enemies or as your friends! You can even mount them. On top of that the graphics of the game has been reimagined and there is massive performance improvements. Try it out now while it's still hot!

Enhancements :

  • Massive decrease in game loading time (from 30-34 seconds to 6-7 seconds on my machine)
  • Optimized the game for rendering large amount of objects
  • Added option to change the quality of textures from 4K to 1080p or 720p for lower end PCs (uses less RAM and video memory)
  • Support for GPUs with only 8 texture units (~3% of gamers)
  • Optimized download speed of levels
  • Replaced fan's wind particle animation with an image to avoid lag with many fans
  • Added option to display FPS
  • Very slight physics engine optimization (30 µs time save or 9% on my machine)
  • Allowed blocks and walls to overwrite each other when placing them in editor
  • Added ability to close umbrellas from editor
  • Added ability to place stone, ice, sticky and rubber blocks in liquids and in front of walls
  • Made gate edit button always visible regardless of zoom
  • Added ability to zoom inward in the editor
  • Prevented scale handle from scaling in the opposite direction
  • Added sounds to editor
  • Added option to allow not exiting play test screen on death (Thanks cheesontoast!)
  • Now showing username of logged account within discord integration
  • Added status messages to level loading screen indicating what it is doing
  • Added shop button to cosmetic dresser for easier access
  • When viewing a color in the shop, now always rendering it with some cosmetic to see that color
  • Improved look of connection icons in title screen
  • Changed the Jumpaï logo to the MakerKing
  • Added a settings button to the tutorial screen
  • Made the finish menu less overwhelming by putting achievements on a different page and disabled notifications when menu is open
  • Now showing the best rank reached by a player in the menu
  • Made level browser show when a level has been cleared but the run deleted
  • Enhanced the default and tutorial levels to showcase lighting features
  • The outfit of the player is now saved in the run at the moment the run was made
  • Made up and down buttons tilt the head of the player for input feedback
  • Frisbees, boomerangs and keys now stick to the sticky block
  • Umbrellas now float on water when open but sink when closed

Gameplay tweaks :

  • Increased player's acceleration and decceleration for more responsive feel
  • Added a frame of ledge input buffering, you can now jump off ledge even when pressing jump one frame late
  • Added 2 frames of input buffering to doors and beds (can now press 2 frames early) but reduced the size of the opening region for doors
  • Slightly decreased air friction to balance out acceleration
  • Made the player's damage hitbox smaller to fit its visual (0.35 instead of 0.4 game units)
  • Made the player's physical hitbox smaller to fit its visual (0.4 instead of 0.45 game units)
  • Hitting a wall now always cancels conveyor velocity (previous behavior was only when facing it)
  • Portals now teleports you farther depending on your penetration into the portal for more precise speedruns
  • Added dismount button and interact button for doors, beds and gates
  • Umbrella open/close is now based off of the jump button instead of up button
  • Jump's height boost from momentum has been capped at the sprint speed, so jumping with massive conveyor/cannon momentum doesn't go as high

Bug fixes :

  • Fixed game not launching from .exe on fresh installation of Windows as well as missing dll problems
  • Fixed bug with the death fade out effect when running the game under 60 visual FPS
  • Fixed size of umbrella differing between editor and game
  • Fixed incorrect rendering of biomes with zoom or screenshake (very subtle)
  • Fixed ice stairs not showing ice reflection
  • Fixed misrendering of water when trying to place it at an invalid location in editor
  • Fixed crash when searching in object picker
  • Fixed crash happening when your number of levels was a multiple of 10 in the level browser (Thanks Sheep!)
  • Fixed bug that would prevent sound from playing when exiting liquids
  • Fixed bug where remote players would be seen with water bubbles when underwater
  • Fixed game unable to load when having a custom frequency with XRandr on linux (Thanks WebFreak!)
  • Fixed crash happening when dragging with both click on a color picker
  • Fixed bug making objects invisible when dragging it through large distances (Thanks Insanity!)
  • Fixed crash in editor when pasting and dragging at the same time (Thanks Insanity!)
  • Fixed small camera dragging when starting to drag objects
  • Fixed bug where it was possible to jump in liquids with sufficient downward velocity
  • Fixed bug where a crash in the tutorial would save the tutorial locally
  • Fixed bug where sound of title screen would be heard outside titlescreen when exiting screen close to a reset
  • Fixed bug where notification sound would play at 0 volume
